Embroidered Edge

A chain stitch used to embroider many variations of patterns on veils.

Russia Braid, Ribbon & Flat Tape Edge

Russia Braid - A cord of approximately 3mm, sewn onto the edge of the veil. It is quite firm and best used as a straight edge or in rows.

Ribbon Edge - A bias ribbon, available in a 5mm or a 10mm finished width, sewn onto the edge of the veil.

Flat Tape - A 5mm wide tape stitched to the veil edge. Softer and more pliable than Russia braid, it lends itself to scallop edges.

Finishing Touches


Measuring. Veils are made from either a circle (up to and including 108") or an oval (over 108").

The size includes the ‘train’ (the longest part) and the ‘blusher’ (the shortest part, sometimes worn over the face). These two lengths are added together to give the total veil size. E.g. 45" train and 27" blusher = 72" veil.

Standard Stone Scatter. We use a ‘crystal AB’ stone as standard on our veils. If you require a different stone, we are happy to change this. All Crystal colours are available including, clear, amythyst, ruby, jet black, blue and many other we are happy to match crystal and veiling colours to swatch. Please let us know you requirements at the time of placing your order.

Combing Variations. Our standard method of combing is ‘half combed’. This means there is a gather at the comb with a ‘drop’ on each side.

We can also supply veils ‘full combed’ which means there is a maximum fullness at the comb with no drop on each side or ‘flat combed’ where the veil has no gather and lays flat on the head.

All veils are supplied ‘half combed’ as standard. Please state when ordering if you require ‘full combed’ or ‘flat combed’.

 
Veils have been worn for many years through history and are an integral part of a complete bridal outfit. It is traditional for the blusher to be worn over the face on the way to the church – sometimes removed when the bride is greeted by her groom at the altar, and sometimes left in place during the ceremony, only to be removed prior to signing the register (often done in a separate room away from the congregation). Nowadays there is less formality to wearing a veil, you can pick any style and wear it as you please, but veils are still considered the ultimate wedding accessory. It is fortunate that today there are so many different styles and ways of wearing a veil, that they can be incorporated easily into your look. A veil gives you an angelic look by creating a soft halo effect, and symbolises purity and modesty. Alternatively you may want your veil to create a big wedding statement; multiple layers can give you a fabulous bridal aura
